JOB DESCRIPTION :
Responsible for the overall design and implementation of technology security and risk management for the District. Includes security solutions, technical architecture, best practices, and processes to best ensure the integrity, security, confidentiality, and availability of District technology resources.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop the overall design and implementation for internal and external IT security.
- Oversee IT risk management - checking compliance via vulnerability testing, security assessments, monitoring security environment, conduct gap analysis, present findings, offer recommendations, and construct continuing resolutions to any discovered scenarios.
- Provide and present instructional material for employees on how to avoid phishing exploits, cyber security threats and other cyber based attempts at data collection.
- Provide threat analysis for all incidents with documentation.
- Verify security systems by developing and utilizing test scripts, penetration testing, simulated attack scenarios, and other system hardening exploit tools.
- Manage email phishing preventative measures.
- Provide primary support for content filtration systems.
- Provide continual evaluation of network and security technologies; develop requirements for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), routers, firewalls, virtual private networks (VPN), other security, and network devices.
- Participate in training and seminars to stay up to date with current trends, threats and exploits that could affect the District.
- Design public key infrastructures (PKIs), with use of certificate authorities (CAs) and digital signatures for all systems where applicable.
- Participate in State and Federal law enforcement digital security awareness programs as appropriate.
- Contribute to security awareness programs and educational efforts for the District.
- Serve as point of contact for District Police and Legal investigations related to IT intrusion or misuse.
- Serve as team lead for site remediation of issues found in the District.
- Maintain the District's system logging aggregation system.
- Maintain relationships with security providers, prepare cost estimates, and identify and solve integration issues with existing technology.
- Safeguard all District sensitive information from unauthorized exposure.
- Support the efforts of the Technology Department in implementing the overall technology plan for the District.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE :
Three (3) years of Information Technology security experienceThree (3) years of hands-on experience with network, server, and storage systemsExperience managing firewall and content filter systemsExperience in conducting intrusion, penetration, and exploit analysisQUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceSpecial Knowledge / Skills :
In-depth understanding of local area (LAN) networks, wide area networks (WAN), servers, storage, DNS, network protocols and related technologiesStrong knowledge of securing email, servers, Cisco, firewalls, and other devices in a production environmentUnderstanding of best practices in system and application hardeningHigh technical knowledge of various operating systems and hardwareStrong organizational skills and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environmentAbility to lead a team as neededAbility to manage and safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized accessCONTACT INFORMATION :
