Job Details

Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.

Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.

Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in plan of care development, implementation, and evaluation.

Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating as appropriate.

Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and healthcare team.

Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions.

Considers patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, and knowledge in care.

Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.

Initiates service recovery for patient and family concerns.

Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Supports staff use of evidence-based practices.

Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.

Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.

Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety.

Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.

Engages in peer and institutional review processes.

Collaborates on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.

Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.

Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors.

Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps following institutional protocol.

Documents nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

NYS RN License required.

BLS certification required.

Minimum 2 years of postpartum and antepartum nursing experience.

Minimum 2 years RN experience.

1 year travel experience required for Travel positions, not required for Per Diem positions.

EPIC experience highly preferred.

Schedule Information

Schedule : 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12).

Unit Specific Information

Unit average census : 17.4 patients.

Unit has 23 beds.

Unit provides postpartum and antepartum care.
