Compliance Director (CPA)

We’re recruiting on behalf of a boutique accounting firm serving nonprofit organizations in the Fort Wayne area. This is a unique opportunity for a licensed CPA who is motivated by both leadership and impact with the chance to become a co-owner within two years.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to IRS, federal, state, and local regulations

Oversee client month-end workpapers, adjustments, and financial statement reviews

Manage the firm’s peer review and System of Quality Management

Conduct internal audits and deliver compliance training on GAAP and nonprofit accounting

Support clients with budgeting, grant reporting, and workers’ comp audits

Build expertise in Form 990 preparation with the firm’s tax team

Monitor and report firm KPIs, driving improvements across operations

Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and staff development

Qualifications :

Active CPA license (required)

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Background in public accounting (audit, tax, or both) preferred

At least five years of professional accounting experience

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset

Passion for supporting nonprofit missions and advancing DEI principles

What’s Offered : 75K–$85K base salary
