Subject matter expert and single point of contact for an assigned Chemistry functional area, program and equipment.
Facilitates and reviews work activities.
May provide direction in all phases of schedule development including on-line, planned outages and short notice outages.
May be tasked with reviewing and validating plant clearance and permits and requirements are supportive of Chemistry related processes.
Provides direction in development of schedules that maintain maximum Chemistry-related equipment reliability and system availability.
Provides technical direction for adjusting schedule dates to support unanticipated events.
May represent Chemistry in on-line and outage scheduling activities.
Minimum Requirements
Chemistry Tech III
A four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a Physical Sciences discipline from an accredited college or university AND five (5) years of experience in chemistry positions.
In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, combination of college coursework and / or experience in chemistry positions equaling nine (9) years.
Ph.D. with an emphasis in chemistry may be applied towards one (1) year experience.
Master's Degree with an emphasis in chemistry may be applied towards one (1) year of experience.
Chemistry Tech Senior
A four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a Physical Sciences discipline from an accredited college or university AND eight (8) years of experience in chemistry positions.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, combination of college coursework and / or experience in chemistry positions equaling 12 years.
Ph.D. with an emphasis in chemistry may be applied towards one (1) year experience.
Master's Degree with an emphasis in chemistry may be applied towards one (1) year of experience.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
Nuclear experience.
Knowledge of plant operations and technical specifications in area of expertise.
Completion of at least one program knowledge transfer plan.
Possess strong project management skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Nuclear Requirements
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.

Major Accountabilities
1) Oversees a major chemistry program or area of specialty (e.g., Work Control, Instrumentation, Diesel Fuel, Radioactive Effluent) by developing goals; establishing policies and procedures; trending and monitoring program effectiveness; writing, reviewing and recommending changes; and assessing overall programmatic performance.
2) Gathers, compiles, analyzes and interprets data to prepare required reports and evaluations with conclusions and recommendations to support Chemistry Programs.
3) Performs complex evaluations and solves complex Chemistry problems in their technical specialty.
4) Partners with diverse teams (e.g., Operations, Work Management, Engineering) to solve operational issues and long-term strategies related to Chemistry program.
5) Evaluates Chemistry documentation methodology and develops and applies alternative calculation and documentation methodology when necessary
6) Uses the Corrective Action Program to document gaps to excellence in the Chemistry Programs.
7) Appraises Chemistry trends and programs and takes actions to correct problems.
8) Performs and / or provides independent review and technical input to Corrective Action Program Evaluations.
9) Conducts appraisals of industry recommendations and incorporates changes and improvements into Chemistry Program procedures and guidance.
10) Benchmarks with Industry peers when establishing and implementing guidance.
11) Supports regulatory inspections and site assessments.
12) Provides technical expertise and supporting data related to the Chemistry Programs.
13) Interfaces with other work groups (i.e., RP Operations, Operations, Engineering) on assigned projects.
Additional Accountabilities for Specialty Areas :
a) For Instrument Specialty :
Plans, coordinates and analyzes data to ensure rigorous implementation and monitoring of chemistry benchtop and inline instrumentation.
Provides expert analysis of instrumentation performance in alignment with industry best practices and operating experience.
Conducts independent comprehensive analysis and assessment associated with Instrumentation.
Provides technically accurate records and reports.
Performs evaluations and presents findings and corrective actions to management.
Assists in developing recovery and corrective action plans, reallocating resources, reprioritizing work activities for unanticipated events.
Tracks maintenance work orders.
Develops and implements contingency plans that comply with regulatory commitments.
Provides technical assistance to Work Week Manager in fragnet development, work sequencing, logic ties, activity duration and resource requirements to ensure work schedules utilize proper sequencing to minimize chemistry impacts.
Expedites materials for critical jobs by ensuring appropriate priorities are set by warehouse personnel for material deliveries and minimum quantities maintained in the warehouse.
Chemistry point-of-contact for complex multi-discipline projects such as plant modifications and outage related evolutions.
b) For Work Control Specialty :
Provides expert analysis of potential chemistry impacts from schedule and emergent maintenance activities and captures operating experience to mitigate future impacts.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for work schedule reviews and coordinates online and outage activities that require Chemistry support.
Coordinates and prepares pre-outage Chemistry Seminar Training materials and assists with chemistry training sessions.
Conducts independent comprehensive analysis and assessment.
Provides technically accurate records and reports.
Provides corrective actions to Chemistry management.
