Job descriptionSAFETY & SECURITY - All employees are responsible for observing safety and security procedures as applicable and reporting potentially unsafe conditions to management. DESIGN - Utilize sound engineering principles to generate robust, cost-effective solutions and translate ideas and concepts into 3D models or 2D drawings with acute attention to detail. PROBLEM SOLVING - Gathers and analyzes information skillfully to identify and develop solutions in a timely manner. Working well with a group of others is also best, as it often occurs to solve the problem. PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Execute projects with clear goals, defined scope, effective planning, resource allocation, risk control, communication, and timely delivery within budget. SKILL DEVELOPMENT - Continual assessment of one's own strengths and weaknesses and pursuant training and development opportunities to grow a skill set in alignment with organizational goals. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Responds with empathy to potentially difficult or emotional customers by actively listening to the issue, clearly communicating with them and providing a timely resolution to their needs, requests for service or assistance with a product. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS - Develops and maintains respectful, collaborative, courteous and trustworthy working relationships with all Unex employees, external clients, vendors and customers. BUSINESS ACUMEN - Blends market awareness, current trends, the competition and tactical thinking to drive growth and build a competitive advantage in alignment with Unex's core values and strategic goals. BUSINESS NECESSITY - The needs of the employer may be dependent on responding to and anticipating rapidly changing external and internal demands in all aspects of how business is conducted. This may include, but is not limited to, organization structure, finances, goals, personnel, work processes, technology, and customer demands. Therefore, it may become necessary to make modifications to how business is conducted, and work is accomplished, with minimal or no advance notice to employees. EDUCATION - bachelors degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university. EXPERIENCE - In lieu of a degree, 5 years related experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. ROLE SPECIFIC SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Fluent in Solidworks, SolidWorks Simulation, Solidworks PDM and AutoCAD. Understanding of blueprint layouts and tolerancing methods. Technical writing skills for process documentation and proposal writing. LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors. Speaking Spanish is a plus. COMPUTER SKILLS - Proficient use of the following software programs SolidWorks - Standard, Simulation, PDM AutoCAD ERP / MRP software PHYSICAL DEMANDS - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. REPORTS TO : Engineering Manager SCHEDULE : Monday to Friday, 8 : 30-5 : 00
SUMMARY : This role bridges the gap between engineering, product development, and customer needs. The Applications Engineer will provide technical expertise, support, and solutions to ensure successful integration, application, and performance of our products in real-world environments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Complete understanding of Unex product line.
- Serve as a technical liaison between the Unex Sales and Engineering departments, distributors and end users.
- Provide application assistance, concept development and drawings for quoting of projects.
- Assist in product design modifications or customization to meet specific customer needs.
- Devoted to new product development, continuous improvement of current product line and the latest material handling technology, trends, and practices to ensure long term reliability and competitiveness.
- Develops, monitors and tracks project plans, budgets and resources to ensure new products and improvements are delivered in a timely manner.
- Effectively navigate through ERP / MRP systems.
- Participate in product launches, trade shows, and customer visits as a subject matter expert.

QUALIFICATIONS :
A successful candidate will have the qualifications listed below which are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
Material handling and conveyance knowledge.
Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Planner.
MOVEMENT - Periodically, the employee will be required to use fine motor skills to assemble components for testing or trade shows as well as reaching with hands and arms, sometimes overhead. During these times, the ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl may also be required.
