The Position
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the continuous improvement of safety practices across the organization by maintaining risk management profiles, updating safety policies, and planning safety training and compliance programs. This position will require travel to company branch offices in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, as well as field project sites.
Job responsibilities include :
- Maintain and update Risk Management and Supplier Information Management profiles on relevant platforms (e.g., EAB, Avetta, ISNetworld)
- As needed, interface with customer safety representatives with coordination from EAB leadership
- Review and update safety policies and procedures as needed to ensure compliance and effectiveness
- Work closely with management to develop site specific or service specific training procedures and ensure training of applicable employees is completed to maintain compliance and best practice standards
- Develop relevant and engaging toolbox talk topics to promote safety awareness across the organization
- Plan and coordinate monthly safety training sessions with input and direction from management
- Conduct and document First Aid and CPR training sessions for employees and trainers; manage internal trainer duties and continuing education
- Research, coordinate and manage outside resources for specific training topics that cannot be taught internally (i.e., NFPA 70, etc.); schedule and coordinate these training sessions with the appropriate departments within the company to maintain compliance
- Assist in conducting root cause investigations for safety incidents and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain the HAZCOM (Hazard Communication) program and chemical inventory, ensuring proper training and compliance
- Keep detailed records of safety-related incidents and propose appropriate corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence
- Collaborate with the HR team and branch operations to support new hire onboarding safety orientation and initial training for job readiness
- Organize and conduct Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training programs to ensure employee safety awareness
- Collaborate with managers to monitor safety compliance, identify safety issues, and suggest proactive measures to address concerns
- Coordinate the inspection, selection, training, and inventory of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the workforce
- Participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings to discuss safety performance and improvement strategies
- Regularly travel to branch offices and project sites across the company service areas as needed to proactively support employee safety engagement, reinforce regular safety training and develop good working relationships with field teams
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Safety is preferred; however, a degree in Science, Engineering or a related field is acceptable2-5 years of experience in occupational safety, risk management, or related field requiredCommercial construction industry experience highly preferredGraduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is highly preferred; must be able to obtain certification within 12 months of hireStrong understanding of OSHA construction guidelines (29 CFR 1926), regulations, and best practices requiredMust be willing to travel up to 40% of the time to company branch offices in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, as well as field project sitesValid Driver's License requiredPreferred Qualifications :
First Aid and CPR certifications preferred; must be able to obtain certifications within 6 months of hireAED instructor certification preferred; must be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hireOSHA-10 and OSHA-30 certifications preferred; must be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hireExperience in reporting safety metrics and developing safety policies and procedures preferredExperience in designing, implementing, and delivering OSHA training programs preferredRequired Skills :
