Wellpointe currently operates the Fresno Guest Homes, Cottages at The Colony, Irvine Cottages, and Granny’s Place residential assisted living brands in Fresno, Los Angeles, and the central & south Orange County areas of California.
POSITION SUMMARY :
We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers Wellpointe’s analytics, reporting, and data-driven initiatives. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and application developers to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and efficient across multiple sources.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL / ELT workflows using the AWS and Python ecosystems , leveraging services such as AWS Lambda, Glue, Step Functions and S3 alongside Python-based frameworks (e.g., Pandas, PySpark, boto3) for data processing, orchestration, and automation.
- Integrate and synchronize data from internal systems and external partners through RESTful APIs and secure data exchange services , building API-driven pipelines to ingest EHR, CRM, claims, and operational data into Wellpointe’s AWS-based data warehouse environment.
- Build and optimize data models to support analytics, machine learning, and reporting needs.
- Maintain data quality , integrity, and security in accordance with HIPAA and internal governance policies.
- Work with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and implement best practices in data management.
- Develop and manage data orchestration workflows using tools like Step Functions, Glue, PySpark, Lambda, and ECS equivalent (docker).
- Monitor performance and optimize data storage and compute resources to improve cost efficiency.
- Experience in use of libraries such as Pandas PyArrow and Polars.
- Contribute to the development of Wellpointe’s data strategy , standards, and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.3+ years of experience in data engineering or data infrastructure roles.Proficiency with SQL and at least one programming language (Python, or Java).Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, GCP, or Azure).Familiarity with data warehousing technologies .Experience with AWS and Python ecosystems with libraries such as Pandas, Polars, and PyArrow. Dask experience is a plus.Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security standards , particularly in healthcare settings.Strong communication skills, collaborative experience, and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams and team members.PREFERRED SKILLS :
