Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Project Analysis
- Develop bidding strategies aligned with company capabilities and goals
- Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to define project scope
- Analyze blueprints and technical documents to determine material, labor, and equipment needs
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather critical data
- Ensure all bid components are accurate, complete, and competitive
Cost Estimation
Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and overheadUse estimating software and databases to calculate quantities and costsResearch market rates and obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractorsProposal Development
Create comprehensive bid proposals in response to ITTs and RFPsCompile cost estimates, schedules, and technical data into professional bid packagesEnsure timely and compliant bid submissionsProficient in Procore or similar construction management platformsProposal Review & Subcontractor Analysis
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals for scope, pricing, and qualificationsNegotiate favorable terms for subcontracts and purchase ordersValue Engineering
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising qualityRecommend alternative materials, methods, or designs to optimize valueCollaborate with stakeholders to implement value engineering strategiesRisk & Contingency Planning
Assess risks such as price volatility, labor shortages, or site conditionsIntegrate contingency allowances into estimatesDevelop mitigation strategies to protect project budgets and timelinesBudgeting & Cost Control
Partner with project managers to monitor budgets and manage cost variationsCoordinate with finance teams to ensure fiscal disciplineDocumentation & Reporting
Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project correspondenceArchive historical data for future reference and benchmarkingPrepare reports on estimating performance, cost breakdowns, and variance analysisClient & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to align on project expectationsAttend pre-bid meetings and site visits to clarify scope and logisticsRespond to client inquiries and negotiate pricing to secure contractsTeam Collaboration & Handoff
Work closely with internal teams to ensure estimates align with project goalsParticipate in pre-construction meetings to transition projects to execution teamsPromote a culture of teamwork, transparency, and continuous learningContinuous Improvement
