Responsibilities

The Corporate Vice President of Communications and Public Relations is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing the organization’s communications and public relations strategies. This role serves as a key representative of Prime Healthcare with internal and external stakeholders, acting as the primary spokesperson. The leader oversees corporate communications, media relations, investor communications, government relations support, and community engagement activities. This position manages a team responsible for internal communications, executive communications, PR, media relations, crisis communications, corporate sponsorships, website development, digital marketing, and social media strategy. Collaboration with hospital leadership across the system is essential, with hospital communications teams reporting indirectly to this role.

Qualifications

Required qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of successful communications experience in healthcare, including leadership at the C-suite level.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, board members, physician leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills for diverse audiences.
  • Relationship-building skills and media experience, including with outlets like Becker’s Healthcare, Modern Healthcare.
  • Track record of leading corporate and regional communications, crisis management, media relations, and labor communications.
  • A hands-on, collaborative leadership style capable of developing materials under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, planning, and leadership skills; diplomatic and relationship-oriented.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities.

Preferred qualifications :

  • Experience in large, complex, national health systems.
  • Experience with investor relations.
  • Knowledge of government relations and working with elected officials.
  • Connections with national news media in key markets such as LA, NYC, and Midwest.
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or Journalism.
  • Prime Healthcare offers a competitive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical / dental / vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. Compensation is estimated between $214,240 and $300,000 annually, depending on experience and location. The role may also include participation in the company’s discretionary bonus program.
