Description :

RN - Emergency Department position available.

Facility has 50 licensed beds.

No trauma designation.

Teaching hospital environment.

Not designated as a chest pain or stroke center.

Emergency department has 23 beds available.

Average patient census is 90 patients per day.

Will accept first-time travelers.

Patient types include all ages and various diagnoses.

Common ED diagnoses include minor trauma, cardiac events, stroke, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, infections, and mental health issues.

Patient ratios are 1 RN to 4 patients, with a CNA ratio of 1 to 12.

Required skills include general ED skillset, IV starts, trauma stabilization, procedural sedation, cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke assessment and care, and critical care drips.

Ultrasound IV placement skills are required.

Department support includes CNAs and unit secretaries available 24 / 7.

Charge nurse is present 24 / 7 without patient assignments.

ED staff performs phlebotomy tasks.

Lab staff assists with difficult blood draws as needed.

Resource nurse systems are in place for staff support.

Respiratory therapy services are available 24 / 7.

Hospitalists are available 24 / 7, but intensivists are not present.

Telemetry monitoring and tech services are not available.

Technology used includes EPIC Encompass for EMR and Alaris IV pumps.

Med dispensing is via Omnicell, with Phillips monitors in use.

No floating to other units occurs.

Weekend rotation is every other weekend.

Travelers will work 75% of holidays.

Resource team approval is required for requests for time off.

Shift times include 7am-7pm, 11am-11pm, and 7pm-7am.

The schedule operates on a 6-week block.

Teamwork and patient experience are highly valued within the unit culture.
