POSITION OVERVIEW
Ziegler is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Chicago. In this role, your knowledge and experience will be applied to support Ziegler's accounting efforts and provide you with an opportunity to gain a broad range of experiences. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the firm's Controller and will play a key role in Ziegler's day-to-day accounting operations.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting including the development and maintenance of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities such as general ledger preparation, Treasurer functions, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and support of the budgeting process.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Conduct treasurer cash management functions
- Provide accounting support for broker dealer activities and assist with month-end close activities
- Complete broker / dealer net capital compliance activities and regulatory reporting
- Assume business unit support liaison role to investment banking, capital markets and private equity areas
- Assist in Workplace expense management and fixed-asset accounting
- Ensure deliverables are accurate and performed timely for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close purposes
- Manage private equity accounting activities
- Assist in HUD accounting and regulatory reporting
- Assist the Controller and CFO with ad hoc reporting and projects
- Support budget activities
- Assist in tax compliance
- Responds to inquiries from CFO, CEO, and other firm-wide managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests
- Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accountingCPA or actively pursuing CPA preferredAt least 3-4 years of appropriate accounting experienceExperience working in a broker / dealer, municipal finance institution or auditing broker / dealers is preferredExperience with Great Plains general ledger system, Investran / Carta accounting system, and expense management systemsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detail and good organizational skills are essential for this positionAbility to multi-task, work accurately under pressure, meet deadlinesDemonstrate efficiency and flexibility in performing detailed transactional tasks in a fast-paced work environmentWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel is also requiredZiegler is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.
