Tractor Trailer Driver / RTD - Apprentice

Job Title

To drive tractor-trailer vehicle to designated locations and operate mechanized loading / unloading equipment. High school diploma / GED. Six months FedEx Express experience preferred. Class A CDL learner's permit or Class A CDL required prior to submitting app for the RTD position. Must be able to obtain proper licenses and endorsements within 30 days of training and placement into this job before being allowed to operate the vehicle without a Class A CDL licensed driver in the vehicle. Three years of commercial driving preferred. Ability to drive manual transmission preferred. Ability to operate mechanized loading / GSE. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 lbs with appropriate equipment and / or assistance from another person. Customer contact and package handling experience preferred. Good human relations and verbal communication skills. Neat appearance since customer contact is involved. Must meet all other quals outlined in Sec 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regs. Requires medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regs. Subject to regulatory alcohol and drug testing which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine, and opiates. Effectively communicate verbally in a time-sensitive manner in noisy operations environment. Minimum education high school diploma / GED. Minimum experience six (6) months FedEx Express experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs with appropriate equipment and / or assistance from another person.
• Customer contact and package handling experience preferred.

• Neat appearance since customer contact is required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job, and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The company offers eligible employees health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement. Pay : 26.56-38.93.
