This role supports Gartner’s growing Security Operations team and seeks an experienced and innovative Manager, Detection Engineering and Security Automation to lead a team responsible for building, optimizing, and automating advanced detection and response capabilities across our security ecosystem.
What you will do :
- Lead and mentor a detection and security automation engineering team, define and execute the detection engineering and security automation roadmap, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, development, and tuning of detection logic across SIEM, EDR, and cloud‑native platforms, ensuring coverage for emerging threats and compliance requirements.
- Drive the development of automated workflows for alert triage, incident response, and threat hunting; implement SOAR solutions to reduce MTTD and MTTR, and identify repetitive tasks to build scalable automation solutions.
- Establish KPIs and metrics to measure detection performance and automation impact, and ensure high‑availability and reliability of detection and automation platforms.
- Stay current with evolving threat landscapes, detection technologies, and automation frameworks; evaluate and implement new tools and techniques to enhance detection and response capabilities.
What you will need :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field or 7+ years of experience in security operations, detection engineering, or related roles.3+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity.Experience driving security projects from requirements gathering to completion.Ability to mentor, motivate, and coach team members, leading to operational excellence.Passion for security and solving tomorrow’s problems.Who you are :

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 106,000 USD - 145,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role‑based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
