The nurse will work a 12-hour night shift. There is a commitment to work four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule. Two major holidays are required during the assignment. All candidates must have experience in a Level 1 Trauma environment. A pre-screening process with clinical recommendations will be conducted. Successful candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed. The role requires nurses to understand sterile field maintenance and competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Nurses will cover lifts, restraints, and wound care during the educational onboarding. Patient ratios will be 1 : 3 or 1 : 4. Common diagnoses include CABG, MVR, STEMI, HF, and vascular repair. Registered Nurses are expected to interpret common rhythms. There are telemonitor technicians available, and the use of GE telemetry monitors is standard. Charge nurses ideally do not carry patient assignments. Patient care technicians are assigned for every 16 beds. CPAP and BiPAP equipment are utilized on this unit. Self-scheduling is permitted, and shifts will be balanced with the scheduler. This position may require floating to other applicable areas if necessary. Scrubs are navy blue, but not provided by the organization. The charting system in use is Cerner. The cancellation policy allows for the potential of four shift cancellations over the duration of the assignment.
