Responsibilities
Aspects of the Primary Care physician role include :
- Team based approach : Virginia Mason employs an innovative, collaborative practice approach. Clinical pharmacists, behavioral health consultants, and other advanced practitioners work alongside physicians to provide comprehensive, coordinated care, leading to excellent health outcomes and patient satisfaction. Each provider is part of a subset or pod of the larger primary care team, including physicians, ARNPs or PAs, Medical Assistants, and RNs. The ARNP or PA supports the pod with a smaller patient panel and time allocated to indirect care, with built-in coverage for provider absences. Pods are adaptable and can quickly modify their structure to meet team needs.
- Flexible schedule options : We work with you to develop a schedule that accommodates your individual needs as much as possible.
- Access to ancillary and specialty services : Referral options to a wide range of medical and surgical specialties throughout Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, with collegial and responsive results.
- Teaching opportunities : Virginia Mason is a teaching environment with regular opportunities to precept medical students and residents. It is also conducive for providers new to practice.
- Learning opportunities : The team fosters a teaching culture and supports providers newly out of residency. A formal mentorship program is in place to guide new providers and support their long-term success.
