Purpose of Position

The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, on-campus position in Instrumental Music Education at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. We seek a dynamic and collaborative educator committed to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.

Primary Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses in music education and instrumental music education, which may include methods, conducting, pedagogy, supervision of student teachers, and other courses in the candidate's area of expertise.

Teach undergraduate courses in a secondary area of expertise, including : applied lessons, music history, music theory, ensemble conducting, or aural skills

Coordinate the instrumental music education program and collaborate with faculty across performance and education areas.

Engage in recruitment and retention efforts for the music education program.

Demonstrate a trajectory of active research, scholarship, and / or creative activity.

Participate in program, college, and university service.

• Advise undergraduate students and contribute to curriculum development.
