Responsibilities Work in the Cardio Thoracic Unit of an acute care hospital Cardiac telemetry unit with a 70-bed capacity Primary patient population includes MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker / AICD placement, post-lung surgeries, and general medicine overflow Nurse-to-patient ratios : Days 1 : 4-5, Nights 1 : 5-6 12-hour night shifts, 7 : 00 pm—7 : 30 am Every other weekend required : Friday / Saturday or Saturday / Sunday for nights Holiday rotation required for major holidays and their eves Common titratable drips include Cardizem and heparin Uses EPIC for charting; experience preferred RNs must float to general medical units as needed Philips telemetry monitors are used and require nurse interpretation Charge nurse and house supervisor present 24 / 7 RNs are responsible for titrating drips, monitoring chest tubes, and caring for a variety of cardiac and thoracic patients Patient care tech support with varying ratios across shifts RNs may troubleshoot CPAP, BiPAP (home regimens), and high-flow equipment for COVID cases Scrubs of any color permitted except children's / cartoon prints Unit-specific orientation provided, typically one shift or partial depending on prior OSF experience First-time travelers are welcome to apply No COVID vaccine requirement for this position Local candidates are accepted with adjusted local rates for those residing within 50 miles Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS certification from AHA required At least 2 years of recent Cardiac / Telemetry RN experience Strong skills in EKG interpretation and medication titration required Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips Experience with EPIC charting system preferred ACLS certification recommended Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625612.
