The Med / Surg Telemetry units, encompassing Med 2 and Med 3, provide comprehensive care for patients with medical, surgical, and telemetry needs. Nurses in these units should have a strong foundation in med / surg nursing, be skilled in telemetry monitoring, and be adept at managing a diverse patient population. These units offer an engaging environment for nurses who can balance the demands of complex care in a high-acuity setting. Unit Structure and Ratios : Med 2 - 24 beds, includes patients with both med / surg and stroke care needs, med 2 functions as a combined med / surg and stroke unit, specializing in monitoring and supporting stroke patients Med 3 - 34 beds, designated as a general med / surg telemetry unit Ratios - Typically 6 : 1 Patient Population : GI issues, cardiac conditions, renal conditions, confusion and altered mental status
