Surgical experience in a tertiary care center

Description :

Interviews for this position will include an initial interview followed by manager interviews.

The facility has 12 operating rooms available for surgical procedures.

Cases run Monday to Friday, from 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 00 PM, tapering down throughout the day.

There are 20 pre-operative bays and 14 post-anesthesia care unit bays.

The role involves patient types across various surgical specialties including urology, neuro, orthopedic, robotic, general, podiatry, and ENT.

Pre-operative and post-operative recovery phases are managed, with some ICU level care needed in the PACU.

Patient ratios in the operating room are 1 : 1.

In pre-operative areas, the patient ratio is 1 : 2.

In PACU Phase I, the ratio is 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 based on acuity.

In PACU Phase II, the ratio is 1 : 2-3.

Skills required include experience with orthopedic-trauma cases, neuro surgeries, general surgeries, and robotic surgeries (Da Vinci XI).

Pre-operative and PACU experience is necessary, including ICU skill sets in the PACU.

Support on the unit includes surgery RN, first assist, surgical tech, nurse clinician, service line leads, scheduler, preference card analyst, anesthesia staff, and nursing aides.

The charting system used is EPIC; prior experience is preferred.

Floating may occur as needed to pre-operative, PACU, or floor areas.

Weekend rotation is required, and call may be necessary, typically one overnight per week and every third weekend.

Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 4 major holidays.

Time off requests must be approved by the manager.

Scrub color will be provided.
