Operations Supervisor

The role we are looking to fill is an operations supervisor position; it involves direct reports, full management of onsite program supervisors and / or project managers performing environmental services at our client's site. The services include waste management (containerized waste, bulk), industrial cleaning, remediation, ER service and overall compliance of the sites. The OM will act as liaison with the different federal, state and county agencies that routinely audit the client's facilities.

Accountabilities

• Supervise and manage program supervisors and / or project managers to ensure proper scheduling of staff and materials.
• Responsible for all ACT activities and programs on client's sites.
• Manage staff in the areas of safety training, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, personnel activities, recordkeeping, transportation scheduling and compliance requirements.
• Develop written Standard Operational Procedures.
• Helps to develop and obtain new business from non-customers and assist ACT sales staff to maintain excellent relations with all existing customers.
• Mentor employees, including instruction on equipment use and written documentation needed.
• Understand business costs and able to communicate appropriate costs to sales for new business opportunities and quote projects to clients.
• Assist staff members in meeting regulatory requirements of RCRA, DOT and OSHA, maintain compliance and documentation with all applicable state agencies.
• Assist operations staff in reducing cycle time at customer sites by developing, suggesting and requesting staff input for ideas to improve services and decrease cost.
• Interview potential candidates for supervisor and technician positions.
• Carry out disciplinary process for operations employees in a respectful, professional manner.
• Assign operations priorities for all customer service tasks received directly from customers or ACT sales or operations staff.
• Ensure internal safety and compliance policies are adhered to on all projects.
• Maintain company operational standards and communicate them to employees.
• Maintain compliance with company health and safety policies and communicate them to employees.
• Work with and motivate subordinates in a positive manner.
• Proactively manage by anticipating and correcting potential issues before they occur.
• Assist and support staff in developing, documenting, and following systems and procedures for preparing waste shipments, QA / QC maintaining customers' hazardous waste storage areas and implementing TQM principles and methodologies.
• Enlist ACT corporate resources as needed to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
• Maintain adequate levels of equipment for emergency response and ongoing projects.
• Conduct facility-wide compliance audits including field audits, inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
• Perform other assignments as given by management.
