Position Summary

The Nankat Holdings Director will oversee all Native Movement / Nankat Holdings properties, ensuring optimal facility operations, funding relationships, and economic development potential. This position servers as the business manager for Nankat Holdings LLC, wholly owned by Native Movement. This position will work closely with Native Movement Executive Director and board of directors to develop and execute a comprehensive business plan for Nankat Holdings in alignment with Native Movement vision and values. This role includes advancing philanthropic and private investment partnerships with the Native Movement Executive Director for the continued development of Nankat Holdings LLC, Native Movement, and associated properties. This position will report to the Native Movement Executive Director, and work closely with the Native Movement Administrative Director and the Director of Finance and Accounting. This role requires strong leadership and team building skills, knowledge of (or excitement to learn) property and business management, and the ability to balance economic and community-focused goals in alignment with Native Movement's values and mission. Occasional travel to Nankat Holdings properties across the state and / or related meetings nationally is required.

Essential Job Function

Direct Nankat business planning, development, and implementation

Oversee compliance with federal and state laws as they relate to Nankat Holdings LLC   insurance requirements, safety regulations, and building codes, etc.

Co-develop and implement a comprehensive business plan and budget for Nankat Holdings in collaboration with Native Movement leadership.

Identify and pursue appropriate economic development opportunities, potential property acquisition and future strategic planning for Nankat Holdings, in collaboration with Native Movement leadership.

Build an appropriate and excellent staffing team.

Develop a staffing plan and budget.

Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of Nankat Holdings staff according to the NM values and organizational goals

Ensure Nankat property management

Direct the maintenance and operations of all Nankat Holdings properties, ensuring all facilities meet quality standards and support the organization's mission.

Ensure the management of lease agreements and tenant concerns.

Ensure coordination with contractors, vendors, and service providers for upkeep, repairs, renovations, insurance, and upgrades.

Oversee the management of seasonal upkeep and preparations associated with Native Movement owned properties.

Oversee the management of emergency response protocols for weather-related incidents and facility issues.

Assess and direct security and risk management of Nankat and related entities

Oversee security operations across all properties, including staff scheduling, training, and performance management

Oversee the development and maintenance of security protocols and emergency response procedures, audits, and assessments

Document and maintain business-related insurance and legal records

Advance philanthropic and investment partnerships.

Collaboration with Native Movement Executive Director to advance potential philanthropic and investment partnerships for the benefit of Nankat Holdings LLC and Native Movement.

Support the development of fundraising materials and proposals specific to property-related initiatives

Ensure cohesion and coordination across the Native Movement "ecosystem" c3, c4, LLC, and programs of those entities.

Attend Native Movement staff meetings and gatherings as related or as needed.

Support Community Affiliate groups as needed in relation to Nankat Holdings resources.

Coordination with Native Movement's ecosystem of teams to ensure coordination and cohesion.

Cultivate and Maintain positive community relations, community partners, and stakeholders.

Represent Nankat Holdings in community forums and discussions as needed.

Ensure Nankat Holdings operations align with Native Movement's values and community commitments.

Supervision Received and Exercised

This position will report to the Executive Director. Additionally, this position supervises Nankat Holdings staff members. Remote supervision may be required.

Work Environment and Demands of the Role

Ideally this position would work primarily on-site in either the Native Movement Fairbanks or Anchorage office, with travel to various properties across the state as needed. Generally, the office environment is calm, with some days of higher activity due to organizational events. Some noise from people in the office is expected, and may increase during events. We are a family-friendly workplace, so children of all ages may be present at any time. Dogs are allowed in the office, so there may be occasional barking and dogs walking throughout the building. This position may require travel within the state. Possibility of a flexible schedule and may need to be available for evenings and / or weekends..

The physical demands of this position require the ability to remain in a stationary position occasionally, move or traverse throughout an office and event spaces. Must be able to commute to and from an office and event space. Additionally, being able to traverse through uneven terrain may be required. Requires the ability to ascend a flight of stairs several times a day. Additionally, the employee must be able to exchange information and ideas so that others will understand, receive and understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, and exercise independent judgment.

Location

This position is required to be in Alaska, ideally in Fairbanks or Anchorage, on site with work from home possibility. When working from home or remote, you must be able to access the internet and have adequate phone reception.

Job qualifications :

Authentic understanding of Indigenous values, history, and the complexity and brilliance of contemporary Native communities

Cultural competency to work with a diverse range of people, especially Alaska Native and rural Alaskan communities

Experience in Business Administration, Property Management, or related field

Significant experience in property management and business development

Experience with strategic planning and business plan development

Supervisory experience, especially in a business or properties management background preferred

Experience with property management in Alaska or similar climate

Knowledge of local building codes and regulations

Experience with property management and business management software systems

Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance requirements, and security operations

Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently across Alaska

Excellent leadership and team management abilities

Ability to work as part of a team and participate in collective decision making

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Proficiency in project management and budget control

Emergency response and crisis management experience

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Understanding of philanthropic partnerships and community-based economic development
