Supervisory Medical Support Assistant

The incumbent serves as a Medical Support Assistant in the Primary Care and Specialty Care Integrated Clinical Community (ICC). S / he works at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care Center, Minneapolis, MN.

Major Duties :

• Plan and direct programs at medical centers and / or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate team leader or supervisor.
• Assign and evaluate the work of subordinate staff.
• Resolve complex problems to ensure patient services are met.
• Evaluate new products, equipment, and systems in order to make recommendations for improved operations.
• Identify educational or training needs.
• Make final decisions on selections.
• Evaluate performance.
• Take disciplinary action when necessary.
• Plan and direct the MSA's activities.
• Extract and analyze data in order to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements :

Grade Determinations : One year of experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level leading or supervising MSAs or equivalent administrative patient support staff in a non-VA medical inpatient, outpatient, or interdisciplinary setting. AND Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Candidates must demonstrate all of the KSAs below :
