Staff / Senior Accountant
Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking a skilled Staff / Senior Accountant to join their team in California. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about accounting to contribute to the finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, preparing reports, and supporting the company's financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate and timely financial records, including general ledger entries, adjustments, deferrals, accruals, reconciling accounts, and maintaining proper documentation.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analysis.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Perform accurate and timely monthly sales commission calculations and accruals, addressing questions from sales representatives and management.
- Monitor and analyze account or budget variances, identifying trends and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with accounting and operations team members to support and execute all QuickBooks-related activities and interfaces.
- Oversee inventory control and facilitate inventory count and reconciliation activities with the manufacturing team.
- Maintain fixed assets schedules and depreciation calculations.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and other regulatory filings as required.
- Collaborate with management designee to improve accounting processes and procedures, consistently meeting deadlines on projects and routine deliverables.
- Handle internal and external audits and company business surveys by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Work closely with external partners regarding financial records, returns, and taxes.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and handle sensitive data with discretion.
- Develop and maintain positive work relationships, effectively using verbal and written communication to ensure successful workflow optimization.
- Participate in weekly team meetings reviewing current departmental issues, opportunities, accomplishments, and upcoming projects.
- Perform special projects as assigned and support other accounting duties as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of relevant and demonstrated hands-on accounting experience is required.Expertise in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks (Desktop Enterprise Version) and Bill.com, is required.Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and best business practices is mandatory.Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and analysis.Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are mandatory.Must have a growth mindset and motivation.Resourceful, can-do attitude.Ability to work independently on assigned duties and take pride in ownership of responsibilities; a high level of accountability is expected.A team player who works well with internal and external business partners.Must be able to thrive and perform in a fast-paced environment.Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary with a range of $80,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
