ICU RN Job Details

Location : Plainview, Texas 79072

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1850 - $1980

Assignment Length : 8 weeks (Start : January 12, 2026 – End : March 9, 2026)

Shift : Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19 : 00 – 07 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Setting : MedSurg ICU West 2 (Low Acuity ICU)

Patient Ratio : 1 Registered Nurse : 3 Patients

Weekend Requirement : 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Floating : Required to float to Med-Surg as charge or floor nurse

Orientation : 40 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active and valid RN license (Texas or compact state)

Minimum 1 year of recent ICU Registered Nurse experience

ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required

Ability to work independently and serve as charge nurse in a low-acuity ICU

Experience with electronic charting systems (any system accepted)

Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Willingness to float to lower acuity units as needed

Commitment to work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a low-acuity ICU

Independently manage patient care and serve as charge nurse when needed

Float to Med-Surg units as charge or floor nurse as required

Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction / failure, and arterial / central lines

Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation

Assist with BiPAP / CPAP management and care for ventilated patients

Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform suctioning (ETT, NT)

Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more

Maintain accurate documentation and uphold hospital policies and procedures
