Position Summary
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) plays a key role in delivering advanced clinical care to children and adolescents with complex medical, neurodevelopmental, and behavioral needs. Working both independently and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the PNP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions within the inpatient setting. This position ensures continuity of care, promotes patient and family education, and supports the overall clinical mission of Nexus Children’s Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Assessment
- Provide care consistent with the Nursing Practice Act and facility standards.
- Conduct detailed histories and physical exams for assigned pediatric patients.
- Assess and manage acute and chronic medical concerns.
- Perform emergency, life-saving procedures as needed.
- Complete full physical and neurological assessments using interviews, diagnostic tests, and medical evaluations.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; initiate appropriate interventions.
