Embedded Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Electro-Optical Software Development Team. This role involves leading technical activities for infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles, and airborne platforms.
The successful candidate will develop embedded software and PC tools, ensure hardware compatibility, and interact with users to define system requirements.
Documentation, maintenance procedures, and regular reporting of progress are also key responsibilities. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently as well as under supervision, providing technical expertise and support to the team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading technical activities and completion of these activities on time and budget.
- Develop embedded software and PC tools including operating systems, networks, utilities, and Internet-related tools. Determine hardware compatibility.
- Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Interact with users to define system requirements and / or necessary modifications.
- Supports and participates in technical activity
- Designs, develops, analyzes, documents and supports testing of products, systems or subsystems
- Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Supports the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Develops prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
Requirements
- Real-time embedded software experience (5-10 years)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), Linux, and bare-metal implementation
- Embedded device drivers experience (TCP / IP, UART, I2C, PCIe), preferably on Linux or VXworks
- Multi-threading / multi-processing concepts and implementations
- Development experience in C or C++ (3 years)
- Active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance
Work Environment
The position offers a 9 / 80 work schedule with hybrid flexiblity.
