Job description

The University of Richmond's Department of Rhetoric & Communication Studies invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin on August 19, 2025.

The successful candidate for this position will teach the department's "Media, Culture, and Identity" course, in addition to electives related to their area of research expertise. We are especially interested in colleagues working in one or more of the following areas : media history, race and representation, public memory, rhetorical theory and criticism, qualitative research methods, or American Studies. We are also interested in candidates with a strong commitment to pedagogies that value diversity and inclusivity. The teaching load is three classes per semester.

A Ph.D. in Communication, Media Studies, or related field is required prior to appointment.
