Job descriptiontransportation some meals, and free accident and liability insurance during service. Be 55+ years of age Income Qualify Pass a Background Check Have a Valid ID Must be able to serve at least 5 hours per week Must be a Boston resident
AmeriCorps Senior Companions (Must be 55+) offer one-on-one support to other older adults who have difficulty completing everyday tasks. Volunteers assist with :
- grocery shopping
- escorts to medical appointments
- Respite to family caregivers
- medication reminders, and
- Socialization
Because of this program, thousands of residents can live with dignity in their own homes. For their service, Senior Companions receive a $4.00 an hour (tax-free) stipend and reimbursement for :
