RN - Obstetrics & Neonatal Care

Job Summary : This role involves delivering direct patient care in Labor and Delivery, Recovery, and Post-Partum units. The nurse will assess and plan individualized care, communicate clinical changes to physicians, and respond promptly to patient condition changes. Responsibilities include general nursing duties in Labor and Delivery and Mother / Baby departments, with occasional support in Acute Care, Outpatient, and Emergency settings.

Essential Functions :

• Assist physicians with care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, including support during c-sections and family education on infant and self-care.
• Adhere to current medication administration standards and documentation policies.
• Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate and uterine activity using continuous electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and palpations, providing interventions per AWHONN and ACOG guidelines.
• Exhibit flexibility, organization, and composure in high-stress situations.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetrical emergencies.
• Participate in departmental projects and quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through educational programs, literature review, in-service meetings, and workshops.
• Be available for on-call duties, able to report within 60 minutes of notification.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education : Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Licensure and Certifications : Active RN license (Washington State or eligible compact license), current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications, AWHONN Intermediate EFM certification, and STABLE certification within 12 months as required.

Experience : Minimum of one year recent experience in Labor and Delivery or Newborn Nursery preferred.
