Senior Deep Learning Research Engineer, Risk Labs

Overview

Block is a company built from many blocks, united by the purpose of economic empowerment. The Risk team combines Product Development, Science, Operations, Legal, Compliance and Policy to identify, assess, and solve risk challenges across access, fraud prevention and compliance. This role is part of Block's Risk Labs, which develops advanced deep learning and reinforcement learning signals and representations for machine learning models used to address risk problems across the organization.

What You'll Be Up To

• Reporting to the lead of the Risk Labs Modeling team
• Dreaming up, designing, and running big experiments to quickly test ideas
• Applying the latest theoretical breakthroughs to improve products
• Building experiments, prototypes, and architectural designs across ML, data mining, NLP, and performance analysis
• Contributing to the growth of new initiatives by sharing emerging trends and best practices
• Defining data structures, frameworks, designs, and evaluation metrics for research solutions with autonomy
• Collaborating with teams inside and outside Block to find new research areas and shape long-term strategies
• Running experiments for research using simulations and prototypes
• Refining research practices and hypotheses with minimal hand-holding
