What You’ll Do :
- Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the hospital’s long-term financial sustainability, including but not limited to : Contractual write-off review and analysis; Hospital investment policy; third-party payer contracting and relationships; effective cash-management techniques.
- Perform Medicare settlement and interim rate review and analysis
- Manage the Medicare / Medicaid Cost Report and matters associated with them.
- Perform month end financial statement review and approval along with approving accounting transactions and AP documents
- Preparation of audit schedules, meeting with external auditors and managing auditing matters.
- Presentation of detailed monthly financial reports to the Board of Trustees Finance Committee and full board meetings.
- Completion of annual operating, capital and FTE budgeting processes.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership team and department leaders on strategic planning and goal setting.
- Provide financial guidance and support to all hospital leadership and staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions, lenders, and auditors.
- Oversee accounting, HIM, purchasing and revenue cycle management functions.
- Attend and participate in internal and external meetings as required.
- Actively supports the Organizational Mission and promotes a Customer Service focus in their daily work.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Shows respect for co-workers by following established break times. Keeps personal conversations and telephone calls to a minimum.
- Completes assignments in a neat, accurate, prompt and thorough fashion.
- Works cooperatively with associates, supervisors and subordinates and supports hospital and departmental goals and objectives.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, volunteers, co-workers, and all departments of the hospital in a pleasant and respectful style. Represents the hospital in a positive and professional manner.
- Maintains the integrity of confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy, including accessing, using and disclosing patient information relevant to the individual employee’s job duties. Also maintains confidentiality of hospital business affairs. Is a standing member of the Hospital’s Corporate Compliance Committee.
- Adheres to the standards of Magruder Hospital’s corporate compliance policies and seeks guidance and training when necessary to resolve questions regarding the policies. Reports violations in accordance with corporate compliance and organizational standards.
- Comprehends and complies with all applicable hospital and departmental policies and procedures to include but are not limited to safety policies, including patient safety policies, OSHA Guidelines, Standard Precautions, chemical safety procedures, MSDS, Corporate Compliance and Risk Management.
- Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
- With input from the board committee, create appropriate record keeping system for tracking donor participation, identification
- Keep up-to-date on current fundraising and public relations programs, practices, and procedures used in the nonprofit sector and to inform the board, volunteers, and other leadership of items that would be of benefit and interest to them in their work on behalf the Magruder Foundation.
- Prepare detailed plans of actions for all approved fundraising and community relations programs, including budgets to support their implementation
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions; ensures compliance with Joint Commission and other external and internal regulatory agencies.
- Maintains the integrity of confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy, including accessing, using and disclosing patient information relevant to the individual employee’s job duties. Also maintains confidentiality of other customer and hospital business affairs.

- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

What You’ll Need :
MBA Degree with undergraduate BS / BA Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field or BS / BA Degree with CPA credentials and prior acute care hospital experienceThorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP.Good understanding of the business of healthcare.Ability to communicate effectively with clinical leadership.Strong technical and analytical skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Exceptional leadership and team building skills.Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment.Excellent use of technology.A minimum of five years experience in financial healthcare management position in Critical Access Hospital setting.
