Commercial Underwriter I

The Commercial Underwriter I is r esponsible for communicating with the agency force on Commercial Line matters; underwriting commercial new, renewals and endorsement business; re-underwriting existing commercial line business; performing various duties relating to commercial lines; and developing sound agency and industry relations to achieve growth objectives within an assigned territory and agency plant.

Essential Duties :

• Reviews incoming correspondence, applications, and binders, determining if underwriting guidelines and criteria are met
• Approves risks
• Communicates with agents regarding all aspects of commercial lines including :

New business and renewals

Suggests changes to procedures, manuals and guidelines

Engages in ongoing development and analysis of the agency plant and relevant action plans

Evaluates individual agency results and recommends necessary actions

Basic Qualifications :

Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
