Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced underwriting account executive who thrives in a dynamic environment and brings a blend of technical underwriting expertise and strong relationship-building skills. This role goes beyond traditional underwriting-it's about managing a portfolio strategically, driving profitable growth, and influencing outcomes through negotiation and collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute business plans with agency partners to improve book performance, focusing on profitability, retention, and new business growth.
- Underwrite new and renewal submissions, assessing risk, determining acceptability, and setting pricing and terms aligned with company guidelines.
- Act as a trusted advisor to agents and internal teams, leveraging market insights to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities.
- Manage a desk proactively-monitor deal flow, negotiate terms, and ensure balanced risk ratios across multiple coverages.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes to adapt strategies and maintain competitive positioning.
- Utilize technology and data-driven tools to streamline underwriting processes and enhance decision-making.
What We're Looking For
5+ years of progressive underwriting experience, ideally in commercial P&C or niche markets (crop or specialty lines preferred).Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with a sales-oriented mindset.Ability to manage multiple priorities and make data-informed decisions.Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).Comfortable with travel (approx. 20%) for agency visits and team collaboration.Preferred Attributes
