JOB DESCRIPTION :

A construction buyer is responsible for acquiring the materials, supplies, and services needed for a construction project. Their role is multifaceted and includes :

• Procurement strategy : Developing a strategy that outlines how to source materials and select suppliers
• Supplier management : Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and building long-term relationships
• Cost management : Budgeting for materials, negotiating competitive prices, and monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project
• Quality assurance : Ensuring the quality of materials and supplies meet project specifications
• Risk management : Assessing and managing risks related to the supply chain
• Compliance : Ensuring that materials and services comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Advice : Providing advice to the project estimator on the predicted cost of individual items
• Cost reports : Preparing and maintaining cost reports to maximize efficiency

This role as a construction buyer is crucial to in ensuring that a construction project remains profitable and that the most cost-effective materials are used. This position will work onsite, not remote, in our production warehouse.

Requirements : REQUIREMENTS :

Education : A degree in business, supply chain management, or work experience equivalent to education.

Experience : Experience in the construction industry

Communication : Excellent communication skills are necessary for working in construction. This includes being able to give and receive instructions, make verbal and written reports, and have work-related discussions.

Organization : Construction workers need to be organized so they can keep track of tools, papers, and reports.

Problem solving : The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations is important.

Interpersonal relationships : The ability to work with various personalities and maintain good relations with management and other staff members is important.

Microsoft Office : Proficiency in Microsoft Office is often required.

Stress : The ability to perform under stress is important.
