The RN renders collaborative nursing care via the Method of Practice, Patient Coordinated Care, to a caseload of patients for an assigned shift in accordance to the healthcare practitioner’s treatment plan, nursing standards of care / practice and professional code of ethics. The RN is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient (body-mind-spirit) through the implementation of the nursing process. Demonstrates ability to delegate appropriately and direct staff in the coordination and delivery of care; assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources; demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution, is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and fellow workers. Reports directly to the Emergency Services Manager. Delegates and directs assigned shift caseload team which may be comprised of RN’s and NSS’s. QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of School of Nursing
- Current Nebraska State License as a Registered Nurse required.
- On the job experience necessary as determined by department orientation requirements in order to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of department specific structure and / or process standards.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct / comfort patients / families; to maintain effective communication / contact with healthcare team members.
- Analytical Skills necessary in order to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans, implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patient’s body, mind and spirit.
- Basic computer knowledge, including Outlook and Microsoft Office
- Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire and maintained
- ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire and maintained
- TNCC and NRP within one year of hire
- Job functions must be performed on site with regular attendance.

- Performs focused nursing assessment for presenting condition
- 1)may use the patient / family, EMS, chart, community agencies as a source of information
- Based on focused nursing assessment initiates ED standing orders.
- Collaborates with Provider in the treatment plan and patient response to care delivery
- Keeps patient and / or significant other informed of care delivery plan
- Continues to reassess and revise the established care plan in relation to the patient’s response to, and the outcomes of the care provided as condition warrants
- Supports and develops Provider discharge plan of care.
- Implements patient / family education based on ED diagnosis, and individualized needs, including actions to take if condition worsens
- If condition does not meet Melham admission criteria, supports patient stabilization and

- Oversees and provides feedback on work performance of the shift staff and other members of the health care team and provides feedback to the House Supervisor, and / or Manager.
- Functions as RN caseload coordinator on assigned patient load.
- Serves as a preceptor to students and staff as requested.
- Follows chain of command to resolve issues or challenges.
