We are seeking a motivated, proactive professional who is eager to advance their career and grow quickly. This role is not for someone looking for a traditional tax preparation focused CPA firm position. You should not expect 60+ hour tax seasons filled with tax return preparation, review work, or routine accounting tasks.
This position is intended for someone who wants a remote / work-from-home setup , but should also be prepared to work in the office most days during the first 6 12 months , and potentially longer. While we offer both remote and hybrid roles within the firm, this position is designed as a " #2 "-a right-hand role working closely with the firm owner as the business continues to grow.
This opportunity is not suited for individuals who lack the ambition, skills, knowledge, or work ethic necessary to reach a partner-level role within a CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities
Review and oversee the preparation of individual, partnership, S-corporation, and C-corporation tax returns.
Lead client tax planning and strategy sessions, especially with clients in real estate and small business sectors.
Identify and implement proactive, year-round tax-saving strategies.
Manage and mentor staff and senior accountants, reviewing work for accuracy and offering guidance.
Conduct client meetings to discuss tax results, planning opportunities, and projections.
Research complex tax matters and provide clear written and verbal recommendations.
Oversee workflow, deadlines, and client communications to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Collaborate with firm leadership to enhance processes, adopt new technologies, and elevate the client experience.
Qualifications
Active CPA or EA license (or in the final stages of obtaining one).
5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or tax advisory.
Strong expertise in real estate taxation, entity structure, depreciation, and 1031 exchanges.
Experience working with small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Proficiency with tax software (CCH Axcess, UltraTax, or similar) and QuickBooks Online.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
Self-driven professional able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience in tax planning, projections, and advisory services.
Interest in helping develop and train a high-performing remote team.
