Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting a safe and effective work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to create individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs related to patients' diagnoses by collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs, utilizing the nursing process with a focus on education.
• Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and start patient teaching in anticipation of discharge dates.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel while utilizing problem-solving techniques.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintain effective communication with management regarding service needs.
• Assume charge responsibility as requested after orientation.
• Actively pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
