About The Position

Job Title : Radiology Interventional Technologist

Profession : Radiology

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Full time

Hours per Shift : 6 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM, with on-call one weekend and four weekdays per month

Experience : Minimum of 2 years required

License : Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS).

Certifications : Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in one of the following :

• Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI)
• Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI)
• Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV)

Must-Have : 2 years of experience with interventional radiology procedures and hands-on scrubbing in procedures with physicians.

Description :

Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the performance of invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.

Explains the examination procedure to patients and prepares them for the examination.

Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.

Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients.

Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.

Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure.

Ensures adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are on hand and properly stored.

Replenishes supplies as appropriate.

Actively assesses the patient's condition before, during, and after all procedures.

Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied.

May assist with the training of new personnel and / or students assigned to the division.

Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating the principles of radiation protection, which may involve patient shielding and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose.

Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the PACS; including viewing of images in PACS and confirming image / series counts.

Completes all study indexing within the Radiology Information System, including study begin, study end, and completion of the study.

Reviews and confirms as necessary with the Radiologist clinical protocols before performing studies.

Demonstrates Team Member Standards of Excellence, including open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity.

Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.

Documents in the medical record as necessary to support all clinical and billing functions.

Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
