Floating may occur within specialty clusters. Assignments will be made based on medically appropriate assignments or support for the nursing care team. Floating may include high-risk respiratory unit / COVID. The traveler must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. There is a possibility of shift cancellations due to low census. Requests for time off must be made with the initial submittal; no additional requests will be accommodated post-offer. RTO approval will be at the Manager's discretion. Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives. Unit details include a focus on elective orthopedic joint and spine surgery patients. The unit cares for patients who have undergone hip, knee, shoulder joint replacement, and spine surgeries. General medical-surgical patients may also be accommodated. The average daily census is 10 patients, and the unit consists of 20 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and more. Staffing ratios are 5-7 patients per nurse during days and weekends, and 5-6 patients per nurse at night. Travelers must complete lab work and an EKG / Dysrhythmia exam within specified timeframes after signing the contract. Modules may take 18-24 hours and must be self-reported to the manager after completion.
