Must-Have :

Two years of previous work experience as a radiation therapist.

Description :

Implements and delivers dose prescriptions specified by the Clienttion Oncologist in an accurate and safe manner to ensure the planned course of treatment is provided.

Evaluates and assesses daily physiological and psychological responsiveness of each patient to treatment delivery and reports findings promptly to the physicians.

Detects equipment malfunctions and reports them immediately to the manager and medical physicist to ensure timely repairs.

Simulates patients as directed and prescribed by the Clienttion Oncologists.

Constructs and / or fabricates immobilization devices to facilitate accurate treatment delivery as prescribed.

Monitors doses to normal tissue within the irradiated volume to assure tolerance levels are not exceeded and notifies the Clienttion Oncologists for appropriate changes.

Plans treatment techniques by means of computer and / or manual computations that will deliver prescribed radiation doses to defined tumor volumes.

Coordinates, assists, and verifies treatment plans performed by Dosimetry with the Medical Physicist and Clienttion Oncologist.

Documents dosage calculations in the patient's radiation therapy chart and verifies mathematical calculations to ensure accuracy.

Verifies charges for procedures completed as simulations and treatment delivery for entry into the patient billing mechanism.

Provides technical assistance to the therapeutic radiological physicist and Clienttion Safety Officer in radiation protection, qualitative and quantitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment.

Regular attendance is required to carry out the essential functions of the position.

Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform role-specific functions.

Average number of treatments is 20-25 per day.

Utilizes EMR and PACS software (CERNER, Aria).

Department-specific equipment includes a Phillips CT (CT Simulations) and Varian Truebeam (Treatment).

No registered radiology assistants are utilized.

Radiologists are in-house.

No IV starts are required.

Shifts are from 0700-1700 with varied start times.

There are no weekend or holiday requirements.

No call or standby requirements.

Scrubs are provided with no specific color or design required.

Two days of specified unit orientation will be provided.
