Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Jira Technical Lead Engineer to oversee the design, customization, administration, and optimization of Jira environments across the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on expertise with Atlassian tools and will take ownership of system architecture, integrations, workflow configuration, and process improvements. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, gathering requirements, managing upgrades, and ensuring Jira supports business needs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Jira system strategy, architecture, design, implementation, and ongoing administration.

Configure and customize Jira projects, workflows, permissions, fields, screens, dashboards, and reports.

Integrate Jira with third-party applications such as Confluence, Bitbucket, Git, CI / CD tools, and enterprise systems.

Manage user permissions, security policies, backups, performance tuning, and maintenance activities.

Partner with stakeholders to translate project requirements into scalable Jira solutions.

Develop automated processes, scripts, and plugins using Jira APIs, ScriptRunner, Groovy, and automation tools.

Drive migrations, upgrades, platform consolidation, and version control.

Provide technical leadership, support, troubleshooting, and user training for Jira best practices.

Define governance frameworks, documentation standards, and usage guidelines.

Collaborate with development, IT security, QA, and operations teams to streamline workflows and processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

12+ years of professional IT experience with at least 6+ years specializing in Jira administration and customization.

Strong experience with Jira Data Center or Cloud Enterprise environments.

Hands-on experience with Jira automation, ScriptRunner, Groovy scripting, REST API, and custom integrations.

Proficiency in Atlassian Confluence and related Atlassian products.

Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and software development lifecycle methodologies.

Ability to gather requirements, design solutions, and lead technical implementations.

Experience migrating and upgrading Jira instances and optimizing performance.

Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle), Linux environment, and security standards.

Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate with distributed teams and manage multiple priorities.
