JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Round daily on all well babies Round daily on infants as neededProvide consultation to EDDocument using Cerner EMRDay shift is from 7AM through 5PMThe night shift begins at 5PM and ends 7AM the following dayCall is from homeExpected time rounding is approximately 6 to 7hrsExpect to be called in for a delivery once every other or 3rd night on call though this is variableTypically, 35 weeks with the neonatologistsMust be available with 30 minutesHigh risk deliveries include but are not limited to : meconium stained amniotic fluid, macrosomia, breech presentation, fetal Intolerance of labor2 WELLBABY SERVICEAvg daily census of 11Hospitalist round on each patient dailyPerform a comprehensive H&P on new infants and discharge exams on infants to be dischargedOccasional circumcision requiredTypical time to round is 6 hrs3 PEDIATRIC SERVICEInfant patientsMost readmitted for things such as hyperbilirubinemia, and weight gain issuesInfants requiring subspecialty care typically referred to UCSF Benioff Childrens in OaklandPediatric cardiology and genetics consultation are available on siteAdmissions average less than 1 per monthER CONSULTATION SERVICE : From time to time ED Physicians will call the Pediatric Hospitalist to solicit advice May include questions regarding differential diagnosis, lab tests to consider or advice regarding formulating a plan for outpatient management until the patient has their f / u appointment with their PCPED physician may seek advice about the appropriateness of inpatient admission or if a higher level of care is needed elsewhere. Onsite consultation may be requiredCOMMUNITY : Located in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay AreaCommutable form Sacramento or San FranciscoEasily accessible to major highways such as I80 and I680Convenient proximity to the Napa Valley wine region as wellREQUIREMENTS : Board certified / eligible in Pediatrics or NeonatologyNRP course completion and facility in all NRP procedures (including intubation and UVC placement)
