About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Accounting Policy. The successful candidate will be a key leader in the organization, responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the efficiency of accounting and policy operations, leading the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, and monitoring industry trends and regulatory changes. The AVP will also provide strategic guidance to optimize financial performance, mentor a team of accounting professionals, and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors, regulators, and stakeholders. Applicants for the AVP Accounting Policy position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a CPA certification preferred. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance within the insurance industry, particularly in life and health insurance, is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance accounting principles, policies, and regulations, including GAAP and statutory accounting standards. Leadership and managerial experience, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in financial modeling and accounting software applications are essential. The role demands exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Remote work experience is also preferred, with a focus on the ability to thrive in a virtual team setting.
