American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a combined ICU and PCU / Tele position requiring 2 years of recent experience, prior travel experience, and VA or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in both ICU and PCU / Telemetry units in a hospital settingEqual split between ICU and PCU / Tele patient care responsibilitiesICU has 12 beds with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2 and 3-4 for bordersPCU / Tele unit has 36 beds (20 semi-private rooms) with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4 for both days and nightsPatient populations include CHF, stroke, sepsis, cardiac dysrhythmias, pneumonia, diabetes, respiratory issues, AKI, CKI, post bariatric surgery, tPA, overdose, and high flow oxygen casesRNs are expected to manage vents, drips (including vasopressors, sedation, and more), and stroke patients using NIHSSCardiac rhythm interpretation is required in PCU / TeleUses Servo ventilators; RT available but not always stationed in ICUTravelers are first to float and may take up to 4 patients per assignment12-hour day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.No on-call or major holiday coverage requiredUnit-specific orientation includes 2 to 3 shifts with a preceptorNavy blue scrubs requiredRNs provide comprehensive care for a diverse population with critical and progressive care needsExperience in charge and precepting roles is strongly preferredCharge RN is always present and typically does not have a patient assignmentTeam approach with free floating resource nurse support per shiftHoliday coverage is not required for this positionNew travel nurses are not being considered; prior travel experience is mandatory\n \n Requirements\n
Active VA or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS (both AHA), and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent experience in both ICU and PCU / Tele requiredPrior travel nursing experience requiredAbility to read and interpret cardiac rhythms is requiredDemonstrated experience caring for stroke patients using NIHSSAbility to manage and titrate common ICU drips (vasopressors, antihypertensives, sedatives, etc.)Comfort with ventilators, high flow, BiPap, and related respiratory equipment\n Benefits\n
