Physical Therapist - PRN

Location : MetroHealth Old Brooklyn Campus

Biweekly Hours : 8.00

Shift : 2 wknd shifts / month; 2 holidays / year

Primary skills utilized / learned :

Evaluates and treats patients by physical measures and the use of therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation procedures (with or without assistive devices) for the purpose of preventing, correcting, or alleviating disabilities.

Patients may include neonates through the geriatric population.

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or post-graduate certificate in Physical Therapy from a school accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)

Holds a Physical Therapist licensure in the State of Ohio Possesses current BLS certification, or obtains within 90 days of hire

Ability to travel to satellite locations.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Membership in the APTA

Physical Requirements :

Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling during ambulation and / or gait training.

Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm or leg during exercise program.

Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient's pulse.

Visual acuity to observe patient's gross movement, gait, etc., in order to analyze biomechanical problems.

Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read.

Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Frequently (25-75% of the time) performed tasks : Standing, sitting with and without back support, walking, reaching (overhead, forward, lateral, and low), crouching, balancing, lifting 5-25 pounds, carrying 5-10 pounds, and pushing up to 75 pounds

Occasionally (5-25% of the time) performed tasks : Stooping, climbing, lifting or moving 24-50 pounds, carrying 10-25 pounds, and operating power tools and machinery
