The role requires a minimum of three years of ICU experience and specific certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. The job includes managing a challenging patient ratio and requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekend and holiday shifts.

Job Details

  • CCU- Combination ICU position at Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia.
  • Must have 3 years of ICU experience.
  • Must have balloon pump experience.
  • Must be comfortable with Vent management and drip titration.

    • Job Requirements

  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • NIHSS certification required.
  • 3 years of ICU experience required.

    • Schedule Information

  • RN 7-7 shifts, with a 6 : 45-7 : 15 start for days.
  • 4 week schedule that staff can create, not finalized until completed.
  • Weekend requirements : Every other weekend (EOW).
  • Holiday rotation may be required.
  • 1 Day General Orientation, 1 day with a preceptor.

    • Unit Specific Information

  • Nurse : Patient Ratios : 1 : 2-3.
  • Travelers can float to any inpatient unit, first to float.

    • Additional Details

  • Common diagnoses include respiratory distress, post-arrest, acute MI, balloon pumps, vents, and patients needing vasopressor support.
  • Charge nurse takes a full patient assignment.
  • RT available 24 / 7, assigned to multiple units.
  • Nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips.
