Job Summary

As a Billing / Coding Senior Manager on the Regulatory Compliance team, you will be instrumental in providing expert billing and coding support to various teams, including payer contracting and analytical teams, payer relations, managed care, legal support, and service line leaders. Your primary responsibility will be to research, evaluate, and proactively communicate vital billing and coding information based on authoritative coding and billing guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess detailed billing and coding experience related to hospital inpatient and outpatient services. You will be adept at reviewing and communicating current and anticipated future regulatory provisions, evaluating contract terms and rate sheets related to billing and coding, and translating technical requirements for non-subject matter experts.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive education and assistance regarding billing, coding, and regulatory changes to strategic colleagues.
  • Support and / or lead special projects, offering expert insights from a coding and billing compliance perspective.
  • Serve as a valuable resource for Corporate, Hospital, and Parallon colleagues, offering guidance and support.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership through innovation, knowledge sharing, and best practices when collaborating with customers and peers.
  • Assist the Payor Relations Managed Care teams and Managed Care Legal teams in proactively preparing for rate sheet changes and providing expert review of technical billing requirements.
  • Apply a comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, billing and coding guidelines, and effective communication / listening skills to daily tasks.
  • Perform detailed data analysis using company and industry data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate payer-specific coding guidelines and / or policies upon request, providing clear and actionable recommendations.

Education & Experience

Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in hospital coding, revenue cycle, or other related healthcare experience required. Preferred experience in a leadership role. Bachelor's degree required.

Licenses, Certifications & Training

Registered Health Information Technician / Administrator preferred. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred - Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) preferred. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification considered. Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) certification considered.
