Our Intermediate care unit is typically a 1 : 4 assignment. Typically, they are freshly downgraded ICC patients or patients requiring non-titratable drips. Stable GI bleeds, Stroke patients, CHF requiring IV diuresis, BIPAP, high levels of oxygen therapy, etc! The unit does also occasionally have medical patients as well, which are 1 : 5. No ICC level of care patients though!
