Job Title : Acute Care Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession : Registered Nurse Specialty : Acute Care RN - Telemetry Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Nights Hours per Shift : 12 Hours Experience : Minimum of 2 years License : Active RN License Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have : - Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. - Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips. - Ability to titrate drips. - Experience working independently in a minimal resource setting. Description : The acute care unit typically serves lower acuity patients. Higher acuity or complex cases are transferred to other facilities. Common patient diagnoses include a.fib, cellulitis, severe wounds, and falls. The nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4-6, depending on patient acuity level. Nurses are required to manage and titrate drips for medications like heparin and insulin. There are no dedicated telemetry / monitor technicians on the unit. Registered Nurses must take patient assignments as needed while also managing charge nurse responsibilities. There are nurse aides available on the unit for support during shifts. Respiratory therapy is available during weekdays with on-call hours for evenings and weekends. Scheduled shifts are predictable, with efforts to accommodate block scheduling for night shifts. Weekend shifts may vary, typically requiring four shifts in a four-week period. Holidays may require participation in a rotation. Floating between acute care and emergency services may be necessary. All staff are allowed to wear any color scrubs. Travelers should be flexible to adapt to a challenging environment and may require assistance in finding housing.
