Job description2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist BLS from AHA Surgical Technologist Certificate Assist in Cardiovascular Surgical Procedures – Support surgeons during open-heart, vascular, and thoracic procedures by anticipating needs and ensuring sterile technique. Prepare and Maintain Sterile Field – Set up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and equipment in compliance with aseptic standards. Instrument and Equipment Handling – Select, count, and pass surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; maintain accountability throughout the case. Pre-Operative Preparation – Verify case setup, patient identification, and equipment functionality prior to surgery. Intraoperative Support – Work efficiently alongside surgeons and nurses to facilitate smooth surgical flow and respond quickly to changing needs. Post-Operative Duties – Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, and restocking surgical instruments and OR suites for subsequent cases. Knowledge of CVOR Procedures – Demonstrate advanced understanding of cardiovascular instrumentation, sterile techniques, and specific procedural requirements. Documentation – Record and verify surgical counts, specimen handling, and procedural details accurately within the MEDITECH 6.1 Safety & Infection Control – Adhere strictly to hospital and OSHA safety protocols, including infection prevention and proper equipment handling. Collaboration & Communication – Work as an integral part of the surgical team, maintaining clear communication with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff to ensure patient safety and procedural success.
